This exercise in MADNESS was started by non other than Marcell Mrsan on the [...] Fill the insole and cover the steel arch shank. Flatten heels, get ready for shaping. Report back to boot in progress and attach outsole, nail in heel, peg in archway. Shape heel. Dye, finish…now all that is left is cleaning up the glue. (Took these home today, Liz tried ‘em on. They fit (and fit is most important). [...] “Gecko en Fuego.” Lizard slip-on kickers for Liz. “Neon Cowboy.” Waxed calf tops, white calf diamond inlays. Tough bull hide for the counter. Veg tanned ’saddle’ with filigree (more diamonds!), crackled brown cowhide for the bottom half of the structured vamp. The green boogery thing was some scrap leather that has been at the school [...] 1. Make an English Saddle Mr. Emory was the only one brave enough to try it out (other than myself). Kudos to Emory.
I started on the old Argentinian saddle tree this week. This was the tree that *was* broken in about three different spots. Here the tree is, being slowly turned back into an Alien face-hugger. Neoprene cushion, there is additional neoprene (not shown) skived and attached to the bum area of the cushion as well as the spine. Seat [...] These are pretty much done, minus a little spit ‘n shine. The owner of these boots happened by to check them out, he tried them on (there were no tacks protruding through the inner sole (beginner’s luck, I’m sure of it).
